Unrest in Egypt

Egypt, the most populous country in the Arab world, erupted in mass protests in January 2011, the result of grievances against the heavy-handed rule of President Hosni Mubarak who has ruled for over 30 years. The angry protests lasted for 18 days, and resulted in the resignation of Mubarak who ended his three-decade of power. The historic popular uprising transformed politics in Egypt and the around the Arab world.
